A greedy（贪婪的）mouse saw a basket full of corn. So he made a small hole in the basket. He entered the basket through the hole. He ate a lot of corn. He felt full and was very happy.
He tried to come out through the small hole, but he could not. Then the mouse started crying. A rabbit was passing by. He heard the mouse's cry and asked, "Why are you crying?"
The mouse explained, "I made a small hole and came into the basket to eat the corn. Now I'm not able to get out through that hole."
The rabbit said, "It is because you ate too much. Wait until your stomach gets smaller. " The rabbit laughed.
The mouse fell asleep in the basket. The next morning his stomach got smaller. But he forgot all about getting out of the basket. So he ate the corn again.
After eating, the mouse remembered that he had to go out. But he could not. So he thought, "Oh! I'll go out tomorrow."
The cat was the next passer-by（过路者）. He smelled the mouse in the basket by his nose. He lifted the cover and ate the mouse. As the saying goes, "Greed is the cause of many misfortunes."
