Marco Polo’s trip started in Venice when he was just a teenager. His father and uncle knew Kublai Khan from a visit five years earlier. On this second trip, the Polos stayed for 17 years before they returned home.
Marco Polo was able to learn many things that were new to Europeans. In his travel journal, he wrote that Kublai Khan’s palace was the greatest he had ever seen. He visited amazing cities and recorded them in his journal.
After he returned home, Marco completed a book about his trip. And the book was full of details about his amazing trip. It was a great treasure for Western people to know about the East.
