A library lists all the books, DVDs, and other things in a card catalogue(目录). An author card, a title card, and a subject card are three cards in the card catalogue for each book. You can easily find the appropriate(合适的) section of the catalogue if you know the author, the title, or the subject. An electronic catalogue works in the same way.
But you can also find it by key words. For instance, you can use an author’s name and a subject, or even two or more subjects like “giraffe” and “Africa”. An electronic search will show you a list of titles with numbers. With the number of the book, a book will appear, and give you the same information. It will also tell you if the book is available.
