四、阅读短文,回答问题
Recently, our school has invited experienced teachers to share the beauty of Chinese classics and encourage students to read traditional literary works. After listening to a wonderful speech given by Ms Lin, I became greatly interested in classic books.
During the May Day holiday, I finished reading some classic books. I used to prefer modern books, but these classics surprised me with their rich culture. The old stories, traditional life and ideas are so interesting! They opened a window for me to see the past. I began to understand why our teachers always encourage us to read Chinese classics.
— Zhang Wei, 15, a student
Reporter: You seem to have a deep love for classical poetry. When did it begin?
Ms Lin: I have been interested in classical poetry since I was a little kid. When I was in primary school, my Chinese teacher taught me simple Tang poems. Those beautiful verses showed me the beauty of Chinese culture, ancient people's thoughts, feelings and values.
Reporter: Do you remember the first poem that deeply influenced you?
Ms Lin: Yes. It was “The Thatched Cottage Is Broken by the Autumn Wind” by Du Fu. The words are very beautiful and meaningful. Du Fu’s life was full of difficulties, but he still cared deeply about others. His kindness and responsibility really touched and influenced me.
Reporter: What other Chinese classics would you recommend to your students?
Ms Lin: I could spend days talking about them. The Analects (《论语》), Outlaws of the Marsh (《水浒传》) and ... They’re all worth reading!
Reporter: Thank you for sharing your story.
Ms Lin: My pleasure.
