A
Nine junior high school students from Nepal made their space dream come true. Their small satellite, called Slippers2Sat, successfully went into space on December 10th, 2025. A Chinese rocket named Lijian-1 Y11 carried their satellite, together with 8 other satellites, into the right orbit high above Earth. This task was part of a China-Nepal education programme, which aims to encourage students in developing countries to explore space science.
The students spent a long time working on Slippers2Sat. With guidance from Chinese experts and local teachers, they learned basic space and science skills first, and then designed and helped build the small satellite together. Their hard work paid off. Their satellite has two important jobs. It will watch water bodies like lakes and rivers on Earth, and also check for early signs of earthquakes, providing information to help both Nepali and Chinese prepare for natural disasters.
When the students watched the rocket take off, they felt so excited and proud. “We tried our best every day, and now our satellite is in space! It’s like a dream,” one student said happily.
Slippers2Sat is small but very useful. Their story shows that young people can also do great things for space science if they work hard. Many people around the world admire the students for their passion(热爱) and creativity. Their experience tells us that no dream is too big if we keep trying.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory ( JPL ) in Pasadena, California is a federally funded(由联邦政府资助的) NASA research and development center. Spacecraft developed or managed by JPL have journeyed to every planet in our solar system.
One of JPL’s projects is developing three rovers(漫游车) to survey the Moon. Using Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration( CADRE ) technology, these rovers are able to explore the Moon together without receiving directions from the Earth. By taking simultaneous measurements(同步测量) at different locations with cameras and radar(雷达), the three can gather information that would be impossible for a single rover to collect.
It takes teamwork to build rovers for a project like this. Engineers Tonya Beatty, Molly Shelton, and Jean-Pierre de la Croix are three of the people working on the CADRE project. Beatty, a mechanical engineer, helps build the base and the parts that enable a rover to move. She attaches(连接) the wheels, which have sharp points to dig into the Moon’s surface so the rover doesn’t slip. Shelton, a power systems engineer, installs the solar panels that power the rovers. The rovers have computer technology that helps them find sunny spots where they can recharge. Jean-Pierre, a robotics systems engineer, writes the computer code that tells the rovers what to do. “It’s never 100% right the first time,” he says, so it takes a lot of work to perfect the code.
It takes nearly eight years to finish the project, including creating the parts for the CADRE rovers, assembling(组装), testing, and coding. It will help us learn more about the Moon and prepare for missions to more-distant places. The CADRE rovers are scheduled to be sent to the Moon in 2026. This technology means a big step forward in space robotics.
4. What can the CADRE rovers do?
A. Work alone on the Moon.
B. Explore the Moon together without directions from the Earth.
C. Only take photos of the Moon.
D. Recharge without sunny spots.
What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Writing computer code.
B. Testing the rovers.
C. Finishing the project.
D. Driving rovers on the Moon.
6. When are the CADRE rovers planned to be sent to the Moon?
A. In 2026.
B. In 2028.
C. In 2030.
D. No specific(具体的) time is mentioned.

根据“these rovers are able to explore the Moon together without receiving directions from the Earth”可知,CADRE漫游车能够在月球上协同探测,无需接受来自地球的指令。
根据“It takes nearly eight years to finish the project...testing, and coding.”
