55-year-old paraglider (滑翔伞运动者) in
Gansu province had a scary experience.
He was pulled into a big cloud when doing
training. He survived, but the officials said he was stopped
from paragliding for six months.
On Saturday around

11 am, Peng was training
with a paraglider. He
was in Qifeng township,
Sunan county, 3,000 meters above sea level. A strong
wind suddenly lifted him up. The wind got stronger. He
couldn't control the glider and land it.
As he went up, Peng felt weak. Sometimes he even
passed out, but the terrible cold at such a high place above
sea level woke him a little. He slowly got control of the
glider and finally landed near the Tiansheng Pasture, 1,800
meters above sea level.
Peng practiced paragliding for over four years. He
got a B-level certificate (证书) in 2022. The video showed
that ice was on his face and body. Now, Peng is in good
health. He said being lost in the cloud was the scariest
moment. "I still feel scared when I think about it," he
said.
Experts said the "cloud suction" phenomenon ("云
吸"现象) happens when strong rising air near clouds
quickly raises paragliders. A pilot said, "The incident
(事故) was very dangerous because many planes fly at
around 8,000 meters above sea level."
