2026年浙江新期末八年级英语下册人教版第107页答案
B(真题·绍兴上虞)
When it comes to delicious food, nothing beats our grandma's cooking! Well, maybe but more grandmas' cooking in the same kitchen. It is what goes on at Enoteca Maria, an Italian restaurant in New York City. The restaurant hires(雇佣) grandmas from all over the world, instead of real cooks.
The owner of Enoteca Maria, Jody Scaravella, came up with the idea of placing grandmothers in a restaurant kitchen. After losing his mother, grandmother and sister, Jody missed sitting down with family for home-cooked meals. He wanted to create a place to go out for a home-cooked meal and Enoteca Maria was born in 2007.
The first grandma cooks of the restaurant came from different parts of Italy. They would take turns to cook their own special dishes. Sometimes, they would have friendly competitions of whose dish was best.
Over time, Jody decided to invite grandmas worldwide. Today, the restaurant has grandmas from around 30 countries, like Brazil, China and Japan. They take turns to work in the kitchen.
The restaurant is only open three days a week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each night, one of the grandmas designs a fresh menu. It usually includes traditional dishes from her home country and the food she loves best. Half of the menu is fixed and it's all Italian dishes. The other half changes daily and it includes dishes from around the world. Its website lists the menu for each of these days.
And how do people like the food? Well, the restaurant is full of people on most nights. As the grandmas happily work in the kitchen, business is running at full speed(速度) at this restaurant!

C(真题·绍兴柯桥)
In recent years, many countries seem to have lost interest in holding world's events like the Olympics(奥运会). While 11 cities wanted to host the 2004 Olympics, that number dropped to just two for the 2024 Games. The World Expo(世博会), however, doesn't seem to be losing popularity. The 2025 World Expo, which opened in Osaka, Japan, on April 13th, has interested four countries and more than 20 million visitors.
Why is there a difference? One reason might be the high cost of hosting the Olympics. Host cities often spend more than expected, needing to build special sports field and provide hotels for many athletes and tourists. For example, the Tokyo Games in 2021 spent about $15.4 billion, according to AP News.Hosting a World Expo seems to be a better choice. The news website Stuff reported that the UAE government spent over $7 billion on the 2020 Dubai World Expo—much less than the Tokyo Olympics. Yet, the event played an important role in helping the UAE government. One important result is, Expo City Dubai reused 80 percent of its buildings built for the World Expo.
Holding a World Expo can also help develop the whole country. Before the 1992 World Expo, Spain(西班牙) built its first high-speed railway for the host city, Seville. This made many Spanish people travel much more easily. In the past, many people disliked to leave their hometowns. But now, more and more people travel between cities by high-speed railway. According to CNN, Spain now has the second-longest high-speed railway network in the world.
In today's world, where many countries face serious challenges, the World Expo shows us that technology can help build a better future. It encourages each country to search for future's solutions.
