The 15th National Games opened in Guangzhou on 9 November, 2025. They were co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. This was an important sports event in China, bringing people from different areas together to enjoy sport.
The National Games included many events for everyone, not just for professional athletes. More than 20,000 players joined the events, and their ages ranged from 8 to 81. An 81-year-old man from Hong Kong took part in the table tennis competition, showing that age is just a number. There was also a women's football team with an average age of 45. The two examples showed that people of all ages can enjoy sport and stay active.
The Games were held in 19 cities, including 17 cities in Guangdong, as well as Hong Kong and Macao. Some events even took place on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Smart technology was widely used, and stadiums were renovated(翻新) to show the concept of sustainable(可持续的) development.
The mascots, Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, were inspired by Chinese white dolphins. People liked them very much and gave them the nickname "greater bay chicks" because they made people think of Guangdong's famous chicken dishes.
From professional athletes to ordinary people who love sport, everyone enjoyed the event. The 15th National Games showed the strong cooperation and positive energy of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
