五、任务型阅读。
World Braille Day(世界盲文日)is on the 4th of January every year. That’s the date of birth of Louis Braille. He is the man who invented Braille(布莱叶盲文).
Louis Braille was a Frenchman who lived from 1809 to 1852. He became blind at the age of three but showed great talent. At school, he learned
two musical instruments and even toured France to play in churches. He was just 15 when he invented his reading and writing system.
This system, later named Braille, used only six raised dots(凸起的圆点)on paper. Blind people could feel each letter with their fingers, and it completely changed their lives. Braille never knew how important his invention was, as he died at 43. France officially recognized(官方认可)his system two years after his death.
Today, World Braille Day is celebrated worldwide. It reminds people of Braille’s role in helping the blind become more independent and educate themselves. A blind worker once said, “With Braille, we can have the chance to get more information and communicate with the outside world.”
