Pack Rat’s creative recycling
In a big forest, there lived a little mouse called Pack Rat. He loved collecting old things. His home was full of “treasures”—broken umbrellas, bottle caps and plastic bottles.
One day, his friends came to visit. Squirrel looked around and said, “What a mess!”
Rabbit shook her head, “These things are rubbish.”
Frog looked at the piles and said, “You should throw them away.” But Pack Rat smiled. “Old things can still be useful,” he said. “We just need to think about what to do with them.”
A week later, Squirrel came back with big news, “Mr Owl is holding a creative contest! We can make something interesting with old materials!”
Rabbit picked up some bottle caps and said, “What to do with them?” “They are made of plastic,” Pack Rat said. “Let’s turn them into wind chimes.”
They tied the caps together. When the wind blew, the bottle caps made soft music.
Squirrel then picked up some plastic bottles. Pack Rat said they could make a small garden with them.
They cut the bottles and planted seeds inside. What a wonderful garden!
Frog found a broken umbrella and asked if it could still be used. “It is made of metal and cloth,” Pack Rat said. “Let’s make a tool to catch rainwater for the garden.”
After making many wonderful things, some small pieces of paper, cloth and plastic were left. “We can’t reuse them easily,” Pack Rat said. “But we can recycle them.”
The animals went to the recycling centre. A group of beavers put old materials into different piles.
Frog asked, “What will happen to them?”
“In factories,” Pack Rat answered, “plastic can become new bottles, paper can become new books and cloth can become new bags. When we recycle, we help the Earth.”
On the day of the contest, Mr Owl walked around and looked at every group's work closely.
He finally announced, "Pack Rat's team won! They showed us how to reuse old things in a fun and creative way!"
Pack Rat laughed and said, "You see? Old things are never really rubbish."

A部分:1. 从原文“some small pieces of paper, cloth and plastic were left. “We can’t reuse them easily,” Pack Rat said. “But we can recycle them.” The animals went to the recycling centre.”可知,他们去回收中心是为了回收物品,故选B。2. 从原文Pack Rat的话“plastic can become new bottles, paper can become new books and cloth can become new bags.”可知,旧材料回收后会变成新东西,故选B。B部分:示例选择用过的纸箱作为旧物,它由纸制成,可改造成文具收纳盒,符合创意回收主题,答案不唯一,合理即可。
