50-year-old Sergio De Ieso is from Italy. He chose to live in Beijing 10 years after he came to China for the first time. Sergio has a special football club. Its players are the kids in the village Sergio lives in. “At first, I just wanted to find some friends for my son to play football with. Later, more and more kids joined us,” Sergio said.
Now, there are 136 kids in the club and about 30 per cent of them are girls. Sergio trains the kids for free every Sunday. And they have football games every month. During a game, kids may play football, write down the points or be the coach of the teams. “They can learn a lot in this way,” Sergio said.
Though it takes Sergio much time and money to run the club, he wants to make the kids’ football dreams come true. As for the future, he is thinking about starting a new football club for disabled kids.
