ave you seen T-shirts with foreign words?
A few French words? Some Chinese writing? In Japan, it's common to buy things with English words. Many companies use English in ads and designs. They want to make products look cool. But here's the funny part: most of these words don't really make much sense!

The Japanese call this "Engrish".
What is "Engrish"? It is a new form of English made by the Japanese. It's the wrong English shown on Japanese products and in ads. Japanese people use it more for written English than spoken English. For example, you can find "Engrish" on signs, menus, game instructions (说明), and even T-shirts.
Why is it called "Engrish"? Because Japanese people can't say "R" and "L" clearly. For example, they may say "lice" instead of "rice"; and they may say "rike" instead of "like".
There are basically two kinds of "Engrish". One is the instructions that are spelled wrong or that have grammar mistakes often found in video games. The other is strange word mixes often found in ads or on T-shirts. Most of them come from bad Japanese-to-English translations.
So, next time you see strange English words on a Japanese product, it might be the "Engrish"!

Be careful of the slippery ground。
5. D 主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文主要介绍了日本人在使用英语时出现的“Engrish”现象。由此可推知,Engrish: Funny English in Japan适合作标题。
