City of Greenwood
ANNUAL CLEAN-UP DAY
Come and help clean up Riverside Park on Sunday, May 3rd. Join hundreds of volunteers(志愿者) between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Each year, the people of Greenwood throw away a lot of plastic bottles, and many of them go into the Altona River. There are lots of glass bottles and metal cans in the river too. It's time to clean up.
We will give all the volunteers gloves and a bag to fill(装填). The first 100 volunteers will get a free T-shirt!
What happens to the plastic bottles we throw away?
People throw away millions of(数以百万计的) plastic bottles each year. Many of them end up in rivers and in the sea. They are dangerous to fish and birds.
What happens to the litter we collect?
We send the bottles and cans to recycling plants. They recycle them, so that people can use the plastic, glass and metal again.
