came to China in 2017 as a student. I learned many
interesting things about Chinese food in Beijing. One
that stood out in my studies was Crossing Bridge
Rice Noodles, a specialty from Yunnan province. I learned about
its history in class. But I never it during my student years.
In 2024, I finally tried this famous dish. It was !
The dish has a long history. There is also a sweet behind its

name. Long ago, a wife put oil on the soup to keep the meal warm, so that
her husband could enjoy a warm and rich meal after studying. This is how
Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles got its name.
When I was studying in Beijing, I often heard about the dish, but
Beijing is far from Yunnan. Until 2024, during my Yunnan trip, I had a experience. I walked into
a traditional Yunnan restaurant. I sat down, and a big bowl of rice noodles. The was nice
in a simple, old-fashioned way. I smelled the chicken soup. I felt excited. It was a long-awaited
moment.
Food is more than just to eat; it tells stories, carries history, and helps people connect. I
learned about Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles in a Beijing classroom. Then I it in Yunnan. This
showed how great it is to explore Chinese food culture.
