2026年思维新观察八年级英语上册人教版第57页答案
一、任务型阅读。(注意每小题的词数要求)
The Huge Baobab
One of the most amazing trees in the world is the baobab(猴面包树). This kind of tree mainly grows in South Africa and Australia.
Sometimes, it is hard to tell what the name of a tree is because they look the same as each other. But this is not a problem with the baobab. Its appearance is quite different, so people can’t mistake it for other kinds of trees. The baobab is very wide at the base(根基), so people often take shelter(庇护处) under it. One Australian baobab was so large that people were able to turn part of the tree into a small room. Travellers could rest inside the tree room when they went on a trip to the city. The tree itself was so strong and wide that it could hold a large group of people.
People also call it the “giving tree”. People in many African countries eat the delicious fruit from the tree. They also find the fruit is very healthy and they make porridge and drinks from it. Since the tree grows in dry environments(环境), it has to store water. The tree takes in water when it is wet. During dry seasons, the baobab tree can use the stored water. Some baobabs can store thousands of litres of water. Of course, the baobabs also provide the people of sunny South Africa with shelters during hot African days.
Sadly, in recent years, the baobab trees are dying because of climate change. Scientists are trying hard to take action to protect them.
