2026年金版新学案暑假作业高一英语译林版第74页答案
B
While talking about age, older people can bring more experience, skills and ideas to what they do. Moreover, it also challenges the idea that there is a fixed timeline for succeeding in life.
Jean Bailey, a 102-year-old woman, is a senior resident of Elk Ridge Village Senior Living in Omaha. She is teaching a fitness class to women at the senior living home. Some of her regular clients(客户) have health problems that limit their movements. Bailey asks them to get started at their own pace. They can comfortably do stretching exercises and get benefits from them. “I don’t care what they do, but they had better move as much as they can,” Bailey said.
Bailey started the exercise classes in 2020. Despite being a senior resident, she was not discouraged by her younger peers. She wanted to stay active and was good at encouraging people. One of her clients is Phyllis Black, 87, who lives down the hall from Bailey and enjoys her classes. Black was usually welcomed by Bailey with homemade cookies. Bailey often treats the clients to baked goods after the class. Bailey said, “We’ve
gotten pretty close up there on our floor. We would do something for anybody. We really keep track of(保持联系)each other and are friendly to each other in daily life.”
Bailey conducts a 30-minute exercise class four times a week. She said, “You move every part of your body, from your hands to your toes.” She explained that she is often teased (揶揄) and called “mean” for being strict in her classes. “The girls seem to realize what I’m going to do for them. It’s for me, too,” she added. Sean Tran, a director at Elk Ridge Village, has known Bailey for many years. “She joins in almost every activity that we’ve got here. So everybody knows who she is and you can’t help but want to hang out and spend some time with her. She’s the sweetest,” Tran said.
