②Plants are our food. Humans eat plants to live. We eat different parts of the plants. We eat their roots, leaves and seeds. The root is part of the plant that grows under the soil. Potatoes and carrots are roots of plants. Cabbages are common plants and their leaves are delicious. We also eat the seeds of plants. Rice, corn and sunflower seeds are seeds of plants.
③We use plants to make things like medicine and clothing. Some plants have medical uses and can be used as medicine. The most common plant which can be made into clothing is cotton.
④We breathe the oxygen from plants. Plants take in carbon dioxide(二氧化碳) and release(释放) oxygen during the daytime. Humans need oxygen to live. We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, so humans need plants to live. Today, cars and factories produce a lot of harmful gases. They are bad for the environment and cause air pollution. As we know, plants can take in them and they can help to reduce air pollution.
