Lin Xin’s study group carries out an experiment (实验) to know how to take salt from water. Here is their report.
Preparation
We chose a sunny day, prepared a large bowl, some water, a tall glass, some salt, some plastic wrap (塑料膜) and a rubber (橡胶) band.
Steps
1. Put the water into the large bowl. Add the salt to it.
2. Put the glass in the middle of the bowl. The top of the glass must be above the water.
3. Cover the bowl and the glass with the plastic wrap. Use the rubber band to make sure there is no space between the wrap and the
bowl. Put a stone on the top of the plastic wrap.
4. Put the bowl outside in the sun.
Finding and feeling
When we took the plastic wrap off the bowl, we saw water in the glass. When we tasted the water, we found that there wasn’t any salt in it.
John: We searched for some information online and we found out how it works. When you put the bowl outside in the sun, the water gets hot and then becomes gas (气体), but the salt doesn’t become gas. The salt stays in the bowl, and the gas rises. Then it becomes
