I think my father is always cold to me. Every day, I take the bus home, but the bus stop is two miles from our house. He never meets me there—even in rain or snow, I walk home alone. When I complain(抱怨), he always says, “You are a big boy! Your legs are for walking!” The road is quiet and dark. I feel scared(恐惧的) walking alone in the dark. I don’t think my father loves me.
But one spring evening, I get off the bus and walk home alone. Bushes(灌木丛) grow along the road, and suddenly, I see something moving behind them. What’s that? I am scared, but then I know it is my father’s gray hair. It’s my father. He is behind bushes!
Every night, my father hides behind the bushes and watches me. He makes sure I get home safely, not letting me know.
I never tell him I know his secret. Love is always there, even when we don’t see it.
