② On December 4th, 2024, the UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) accepted Chinese Spring Festival as one of the World’s Intangible Cultural Heritages (非物质文化遗产). “It shows that Chinese Spring Festival is meaningful to the world,” said one of the Chinese officials (官员). “And it will help more foreigners to learn about Chinese culture.”
③ As the oldest and the most important festival in China, the Spring Festival is always a time for families to get together. There are many traditions about it in China, such as writing the character Fu, hanging couplets, making dumplings and watching dragon dance and lion dance performances. People, especially (尤其) young children, also like to set off fireworks.
④ Another important tradition about the festival is that people always visit their relatives and friends to say “Happy New Year”. And they usually bring small gifts and give “Hongbao” (lucky money) to young kids. These years, saying “Happy New Year” to each other on the phone or online is getting more and more popular.
⑤ Now it is the year of the Snake. We have celebrated the Spring Festival of 2025. As the Spring Festival is becoming more and more popular with foreigners, I am sure that more and more foreigners will celebrate it.
