2026年能力素养与学力提升九年级英语上册译林版第135页答案
六、阅读理解。
One of the differences between Chinese movies and those of foreign countries is bilingual subtitles(双语字幕). Two languages that we use as subtitles are Chinese and English. There are some reasons why Chinese movies have subtitles.
The first reason is dialect. Besides Mandarin(普通话) and Cantonese(粤语), China has lots of dialects. And even different provinces have different dialects. Some Chinese movies have different dialects, so they should make sure audiences can understand what they are talking about.
Second is the background music and sound effects. Unlike TV, the cinema cannot be controlled remotely(远地). Whether the background music is too loud or too small, the subtitles can make sure audiences will not be out of the play.
Third is that a deep voice or pronunciation is not clear. Some actors or actresses have a deep and low voice, which sounds good. But we can't hear it in the heavy bass(超重低音) theatres. So the subtitles help us to understand the lines.
Fourth, it is friendly to people who have trouble hearing. The subtitles help them to understand what actors or actresses talk about.
Fifth, there are lots of foreigners coming to China, and English is the most widely spoken language in the world. When we watch bilingual subtitles, we can learn English and we can also understand the meaning. Foreigners can use Chinese movies to learn Chinese, and the English subtitles help them understand Chinese.
