Jack opened his eyes and looked out the window. The tree house landed inside a large, white room. He had no idea where he was.
He looked at the page in the moon book and read the words below, “A moon base was built on the moon in 2031. The top of the dome(穹顶) opens to let spacecraft enter and leave.”
“Oh, man—look!” Jack shouted, eyes wide, his heart beating like crazy. “We’ve landed inside a moon base! The book says it was built in 2031—so it’s from the future!”
“So what’s a moon base?” asked Annie.
Jack looked at the book and read aloud, “When scientists visit the moon for short periods, they eat and sleep in the moon base, which has a landing space and a room for storing spacesuits.”
“We have to find the fourth thing for Morgan,” said Annie.
“No, first we should study this map,” said Jack. He took out his notebook, drew the tree house and showed the X in his drawing. “We’re here.”
Jack looked up. Annie was nowhere to be found.
“Again!” Jack said. As usual, she left without him.
Jack looked at his diagram(示意图), which showed only one way to go. He walked along the white wall to the stairs and climbed them to a hallway(走廊).
“Jack—hurry!” Annie was at the end of it.
Jack hurried towards her. What he saw took his breath away. He looked at a grey land filled with giant craters(陨石坑) and tall mountains. The sun was shining, but the sky was ink-black.
“Say hi to the moon,” Annie said softly.
