All About Sea Turtles
Size and Weight
There are many different types of sea turtles, and their looks are different. The smallest type is the olive ridley turtle. It is
between 50 and 75 cm in length and between 25 and 46 kg in weight. The largest type is the leatherback turtle, which is between 1.5 and 1.9 m in length and between 340 and 454 kg in weight.
Depending on their types, sea turtles can be:
• carnivores (meat eaters);
• herbivores (plant eaters);
• omnivores (meat and plant eaters).
A sea turtle’s jaw structure (颌骨结构) tells what kind of food it eats.
Migration
Sea turtles migrate (迁徙) between cooler and warmer waters in different seasons. When they migrate, they can travel thousands of miles to and from beaches. Nobody knows how they find their way back to these beaches where they were born, but researchers believe that the sea water keeps the secret.
