Junk Kouture is a fun fashion competition for kids aged 12 to 19. It started in Ireland in 2010. Every year, students make cool clothes from recycled things like plastic bags, cardboard, and old toys. They show their creativity and help protect the Earth.
This year, the World Final was held in Dublin, Ireland. Sixty top school teams from countries like the UK, France, Italy, and the US joined. The winner was “Carousel Couture” from Salesian Secondary College in Limerick, Ireland. Their colourful dress was inspired by a funfair. They used safety vests, bin bags, plastic pipes, and old toy animals. It showed how trash can become fashion!
Their art teacher, Ms Ann, helped them a lot. She told them, “If you put your name on something, give it 111 percent!” That means do your very best.
Other teams also won prizes. One team from New York made a dress called “Mirrorball” using over 30,000 recycled can tabs. They won “New York Designer of the Year”.
Judges from fashion, art, and environmental fields picked the winners. Each design had to support at least one UN goal for a better world. This helps young people learn how creativity can solve big problems.
