B
Isn't spring a beautiful season? People can see flowers of all colours and shapes everywhere. They make our world look and smell better. So, it is no surprise that people love flowers! Well... except for one — dandelions (蒲公英)!
Sometimes we want to dig out the dandelions in the garden — only to see these unwanted plants grow right back. But that's not bad because we have good reasons to leave them alone.
In fact, a 2014 study lists dandelions as one of the top 41 healthiest foods. Dandelions are full of vitamins (维生素) K, A, E and C. People have used them as medicine for a long time.
Another great thing about dandelions is that you can eat every part of them, either cooked or uncooked. You can also put the flowers or roots in hot water to make dandelion tea. Great! Nothing goes to waste!
Besides, dandelions are fun for kids! Pick the white top, close your eyes, make a wish and blow! If you blow all of it off in one breath, your wish will come true! This game is played all over the world.
Still unwanted plants? Of course not! Dandelions are good for human health. They also provide (提供) kids with free toys! So next time when you are blowing them, blow harder — you're helping this great plant grow in the wild, even if your own wish does not come true!

Kendall spends a lot of time playing in the earth. She has a huge garden, but for this seven-year-old girl, gardening isn't just about fruit and vegetables. It's about people. "My favourite thing about growing food is doing it with my family and friends," she says.
Kendall began gardening at the age of three, when her grandmother gave her some potatoes. Grandma told her, "Don't throw away the small ones. If you put them in the ground, they will grow back." Kendall tried it and was amazed when the small potatoes grew new leaves.
Soon after, her parents put up a small yard garden. When friends came over, Kendall enjoyed sharing what she knew. And she says, "My friends help me water and care for the plants."
At the age of six, she became the youngest licensed farmer in her hometown. Today, her garden has grown to include sixty plant beds (花坛) and twelve trees! When the vegetables and fruit are ripe (成熟的), Kendall says, "I pick them, then I do a food sale so that other kids and families can have some."
Kendall encourages other kids too. She speaks at school and hosts a garden club for kids. "I also invite kids to visit my garden and help me with it to see how fun it is," she says. "Growing food takes a lot of work, but together you can do it."
