The school bell rang, and Jake walked slowly to the soccer field. His best friend, Ben, saw him and ran over. "Hey, Jake! Ready for practice?" Ben asked. Then he noticed Jake's face. "What's wrong? Are you still thinking about last week's game?"
"Yeah," Jake said quietly, looking at the ground. "I feel really bad. We lost because of me. I let the whole team down."
"Don't say that!" Ben said. "When you touched the ball with your hand, it was an accident. It happened really fast! Everyone knows you didn't mean to do it."
Ben was a good friend. But Jake knew the referee（裁判员）saw it differently. The referee thought Jake touched the ball on purpose and gave the other team a penalty kick（点球）. They scored the winning goal from it. Jake couldn't change what happened.
"I know," Jake said. "But we were so close to winning before my mistake. I should have been more careful."
"Look," said Ben, "try to see the good parts. The other team is the best in the league, but we played very well against them. I think we did great, and our coach said he was proud of our effort."
Jake felt a little better. "Thanks, Ben. I just hate losing."
"Nobody wins all the time," Ben said with a smile. "The important thing is that we learn and get better. We are a team! We win together, and we lose together. Next time, we'll try again!"
"You're right," Jake said, finally smiling. "We'll do better next time as a team." He was happy to have a friend like Ben.
