The Sahara Desert is the biggest desert in the world. It is more than 9,000,000 square kilometers in size. This is almost the size of China. The desert covers 11 countries in the north of Africa.
There are many dunes（沙丘）in the desert. Some of the dunes are so huge that they can even be over 152 meters high. When you go on a visit in the Sahara Desert, you may feel you are in a sea of sand. However, there are also other amazing landforms in different parts of the desert.
It is very hot and dry in the Sahara Desert. During the hottest months, the temperature can reach $50°\mathrm{C}$. Because of high temperatures and poor conditions, only 500 kinds of plants live there. They also play a role in the number of animals. In the driest part of the desert, there are only 70 kinds of animals.
