The broken bracelet
Emma held the broken pieces of her favourite bracelet in her hand. The blue beads had scattered (散落) everywhere after Sarah's basketball hit her wrist.
Sarah rushed over, "I'm so sorry, Emma! Are you okay?" She knelt down, picking up the beads carefully.
Emma paused. She wanted to be angry, but she knew it had been an accident. She turned away, hiding her feelings. "It's fine. I know you didn't mean it."
Sarah's eyes filled with regret. "I'll fix it — I promise."
Emma didn't reply. She walked off. The bracelet had been a gift from her grandmother, and now it was ruined.
The next morning, Sarah came over with a small box. "I stayed up late fixing this," she said, handing it to Emma nervously.
Emma opened it, surprised to see the bracelet carefully repaired with silver threads woven between the blue beads.
"I asked my grandma for help," Sarah explained, looking at Emma hopefully.
Emma blinked back tears. "You knew that blue is my favourite colour?"
Sarah smiled. "Of course. And I added silver because it matches you — you always stand out in class."
A week later, during PE class, Sarah tripped and twisted (扭伤) her ankle. She sat on the bench, biting her lip as pain and embarrassment filled her eyes. Emma rushed over, kneeling beside her. "Don't move too much," she said gently, taking off her jacket and folding it into a cushion (垫子). "Here — rest your ankle on this until the nurse comes."
Sarah looked at her in surprise. "You don't have to —"
