Yushu in Qinghai is a home to black-necked cranes(鹤). These cranes travel very far every year. They spend about 5 months in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau(高原).
In March, black-necked cranes will start flying back to Qinghai. Lakes and marshes(湿地) are perfect for them. Although they may fly to other places like forests sometimes, they always come back to the plateau areas.
Life for black-necked cranes is tough as they do not have enough food and the weather changes a lot. Black-necked cranes have a very small population and our country is trying to save them all the time. People in Yushu love these cranes very much.
