Schools are different around the world
Schools are places for students to learn new things and meet friends. But they can also be very different in some ways.
In China, most students start school on the same day in September. But in the Netherlands (荷兰), all the students start primary school the day after their fourth birthday. There are always new students joining in throughout the year.
In Bangladesh (孟加拉国), some schools are on boats. This is because around a fifth of the country is flooded (被水淹没) every year. During the flood, most schools have to close. The country builds schools on boats so that students can take classes during the flood season. In some poor areas of Guizhou, China, the classroom there is built in a cave (山洞). It uses the cave’s natural environment to enhance (改善) learning—especially geology (地质学) and biology (生物学).
There is also a special school called forest school. A group of kids explore (探索) the forest, lakes and animals in nature together. Their teachers never tell them that their play is too high, too fast or too dangerous. They only follow the kids and help when something goes wrong.
