Ellyse Perry is one of Australia’s greatest women cricketers ( 板球运动 员). She shares her ideas about having dreams and how to achieve them.
Dreams
A dream has to be realistic ( 现实的 ). It has to be something you can actu-ally do. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a musician and giving con-certs to people from all over the world. But that’s not a realistic dream because I’m not good at it. You don’t have to have a dream when you’re 15 years old. But once you’ve found the things that you’re naturally interested in, you can’t help dreaming.
It’s true that all the little dreams we have can lead to a big one. So far( 到 目 前为止), I’ve achieved a few little dreams. In the beginning, I just wanted to be a cricketer. I worked hard and tried to dream bigger. Now I have the chance to represent ( 代表 )my country in cricket. That’s impossible to imagine when I started out. So be brave to dream big.
Resilience ( 恢复力) and confidence( 自信)
As is known to all, not everything can happen perfectly. So accept it. As a sportsperson, I may lose a match or make a duck. Instead of thinking about something bad, I always tell myself,“Be per-sistent. Things will get better soon if you never give up.” For me, resilience is really all about your re-sponse ( 反应 )to the problems, so the answer is to give your all and not give up.
Confidence is what gets you through the hardest moments. While facing problems and challenges, don’t lose heart. Always have confidence in yourself and your abilities. When you believe you can, you really can.
