Last summer, I planned to take a short holiday in the woods. My husband wasn't free, but I really wanted to see the Perseid meteor shower(英仙座流星雨). So I decided to go camping by myself.
After getting the sleeping bag and some food ready, I was on my way. I was a little nervous about being alone. As soon as I arrived at the camping place, I asked the guide if I could camp alone. "Sure," he said. His reply made me feel better.
After supper, I made a fire. Looking up, I couldn't see much of the sky through the trees. I fell asleep quickly. A few hours later, I heard a strange and loud noise and woke up. Thankfully, after a few minutes, it stopped. But I was afraid for the rest of the night. I didn't think it was a good idea to go out and look at the stars after this. When I lay there, I heard squirrels and an owl(猫头鹰) calling. I was so glad to hear this sound of nature. Listening to the fantastic sounds, I felt sleepy soon.
The next morning, my neighbour talked about a bear visiting in the night. Luckily, the bear did nothing bad. Though I was unhappy at not seeing the stars, now I feel more confident about camping alone. And I know exactly what I need in a holiday camp.
