I finally gave in to my lifelong love of travelling. I left my job to do it full time. I've been slow travelling the world on my own since 2018. Since the past three years, I've been to 25 countries. Now I'd like to talk about my experience in New Zealand.
Of the two islands in New Zealand, I preferred the North Island. It was my first stop. When I was in Wellington, I stayed in Karori, a 10-minute bus ride from the centre. I got a beautiful view of the city and went to a free museum where I learnt about the city's past. Another great place was Zealandia. I saw many of the local birds and learnt about people's efforts to save endangered animals.
Rotorua is known for its hot springs and mudbaths. I had never heard of an acidic(酸性的)pool, but I found that it did help with aches and pains. Then I spent half a day learning about Maori customs, starting with a village tour. After a walk around the shops, I enjoyed a lunch of corn cooked in their thermal baths(温泉浴).
After visiting the North Island, I went to the South Island. Lake Tekapo might be the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. Its colour in the sun forced me to sit down and enjoy. The night sky was wonderful, with a small church for perfect photos. I had to say that the lamb here was really delicious.
All in all, I was lucky to experience the wonders of both islands and the culture, at a deeper level in New Zealand. I started my blog, Heather Begins, as a log of my journeys.

词义猜测题:定位第一段“I finally gave in to my lifelong love of travelling. I left my job to do it full time.”,作者因热爱旅行放弃工作,“gave in”意为“屈服于”,对应选项D(Give way to,表“屈服于、让位于”);A项“Feel sorry”(感到抱歉)、B项“Send out”(发送)、C项“Say no to”(拒绝)均不符合语境,故选D。
3. 主旨大意题:文章第一段明确“Now I'd like to talk about my experience in New Zealand.”,全文围绕作者在新西兰的旅行经历展开,核心是分享该经历,故选B。
