Do you know how people in the West celebrate boys’ and girls’ birthdays?
In America, they put candles on the cake. The number of the candles is the age of the birthday child. Everyone sings the Happy Birthday song. In Norway, the birthday child has a little dance with one of the classmates in the classroom. The other classmates sing the Happy Birthday song.
In New Zealand, they sing the Happy Birthday song to the birthday child. Then they give the birthday child a clap for each year, and one more for good luck. In Argentina, when children celebrate their birthdays, people will pull their ears gently, again as many times as their ages.
In the Philippines, if someone celebrates his birthday, people will hang colorful lights outside his door. In Russia, people who celebrate their birthdays will eat pies instead of birthday cakes.
