Many people enjoy eating meat very much. They even can't have a meal without it. Howev- er, after learning about a new study, they may want to change their eating habits.
Scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health have found that eating too much red meat can increase the risk of early death. Red meat is the meat that looks red before it is cooked, like pork, beef and mutton. The scientists put their study in a medical magazine.
The scientists watched the eating habits and health of over 110,000 adults for more than 20 years. They asked these people about their diets every four years. During the 20 years, nearly 24,000 people died. Among them, 5,910 died of heart disease and 9,464 died of cancer.
Scientists looked into many different lifestyle factors, such as age, weight, exercise and fam- ily heart disease history. They also studied how much of different foods people ate, like rice, wheat, fruits, vegetables and fish. It shows that many other daily habits also play an important role in people's health.
The results show that eating one meal of cooked red meat every day may make the risk of ear- ly death 20 percent higher. This is a clear warning for people who love red meat very much.
An Pan, the first writer of the study, told USA Today, "The message we want to send is that it is healthy if you can eat less red meat. You can eat half a serving a day or two to three servings a week."
In fact, keeping a balanced diet is the key to good health.

答案

1.B 2.C 3.B 4.A 5.B

解析

2. 根据原文第二段“Red meat is the meat that looks red before it is cooked, like pork, beef and mutton”,明确说明猪肉属于红肉,因此选C。
3. 根据原文第三段“They asked these people about their diets every four years”,可知科学家每四年对受访者的饮食情况做一次调查,因此选B。
