B
Erin Brockovich grew up in Kansas, USA. She studied at a business college for a year, and then she went to California.
In 1990, when she was thirty years old, she had a car accident. A law firm(律师事务所)helped her after the accident, so she started to work for them later.
Her job was to organize papers. One day Erin realized that there were lots of very sick people in a place called Hinkley. She felt it was unusual, so she started to look for more information about the town.
Erin worked very hard for five years. She visited lots of sick people in Hinkley and listened to their stories. All the sick people lived near a big factory called Pacific Gas and Electric. Then she discovered that there was something called chromium(铬)in the water they drank. It was from the factory and Erin believed that the people were sick because of the chromium in their drinking water. She planned to help them.
Erin started a law case(诉讼)against Pacific Gas and Electric. The factory wasn't happy about this. They didn't agree that the people were ill because of the water, but in 1996, the judge ordered Pacific Gas and Electric to pay the people in Hinkley 500,000 each.
In 2000, there was a film about Erin Brockovich. Julia Roberts played Erin and the film was very successful. Now Erin is famous—she has her own firm and she gives talks all over the world.

1. 第16题抓住"在律所工作的原因"这个核心信息,直接定位到原文第二段找因果相关的描述;
2. 第17题抓住Erin发现大量和Hinkley相关内容后的感受,定位第三段找到她对这件事的评价,匹配对应情绪选项;
3. 第18题词义猜测题,结合前文她花大量时间走访、搜集信息的行为,推断划线单词的中文含义;
4. 第19题抓住"居民生病的原因",定位第四段直接找到对应的诱因描述;
In 1990, when she was thirty years old, she had a car accident. A law firm helped her after the accident, so she started to work for them later.",可知Erin是车祸后得到该律所的帮助,之后才入职律所,对应选项D。
One day Erin realized that there were lots of very sick people in a place called Hinkley. She felt it was unusual",句中unusual意为不寻常的、奇怪的,对应选项A的Strange。
Erin believed that the people were sick because of the chromium in their drinking water",可知居民生病的诱因是他们饮用的水,对应选项B。
