一、阅读理解
Dear Editor Lee,
I am a student from a junior middle school. I am good at all the subjects except English. I can't remember words well. I need to work on my speaking and listening. Could you give me some advice?
John
Dear Editor Lee,
I have a problem! I really don't know what to say when I meet strangers. I find it hard to talk with others because I'm afraid they might laugh at me. I am not as interesting, clever, or funny as my friends. If people start talking to me, they will find that I am just boring. Please help me.
Ann
Dear Editor Lee,
I was getting on well with my best friend. But a few days ago, another friend of mine told me that she often said bad things about me. When I heard this, I was very angry. What should I do? Should I stop being her friend or pretend(假装)I don't know anything?
Betty
Dear Editor Lee,
These days I find it hard for me to fall asleep. When I go to bed, though I feel very sleepy, I always think a lot and can't fall asleep. So I always feel very tired in class and sometimes I get really bad headaches. Could you give me some advice?
Steven

What is the most stressful thing in school? It is probably taking exams. Exams can put us under a lot of pressure. We all know that some students do well under pressure while others feel terrible. 1
It all comes down to dopamine(多巴胺). 2 It has many important roles: influencing memory, attention and how we learn. Our brains work best when there is a balance(平衡)of dopamine—not too much or too little. The brain controls dopamine in two ways. 3 The exam result has something to do with how fast dopamine goes back to a balance.
What happens when we sit waiting for an exam? If you become stressed, your brain will start to overload dopamine. 4 The quicker you are able to go back to a balance of dopamine, the quicker you can make yourself do better on a test.
Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to a balance of dopamine scored 8% lower. 5 But don't fear. There is some good news. The study also found that the more practice you get, the less stressed you'll be. So, it turns out that practice really makes perfect.
A. It is like a cup overflowing(溢出)with water.
B. But why do some students do better under stress?
C. It either takes out dopamine quickly, or gradually.
D. There is something that can help change the result.
E. So, that is the difference between a good mark and a bad one.
