Lin Yuhui is a retired police officer and sketch（素描） artist, who works in Jinan, East China's Shandong province. When he handed over a drawing of martyr（烈士） Xu Liangao to his daughter, Xu Xiuqing, she was very moved. "It looks so much like him," Xu Xiuqing said, gently touching her father's "face". Xu Liangao lost his life in a battle in 1947 but didn't leave any photos. Xu Xiuqing always wanted to see her father's face. Her dream finally came true when Lin gave her a well-drawn picture of her father.
After leaving his job at the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department, Lin Yuhui started to draw pictures of martyrs for their families for free. Lin is very good at drawing faces. He works with care and respect（敬意）. To draw the pictures perfectly, he visits the families, and studies old photos and history before he starts drawing. He pays special attention to each martyr's eyes. "The eyes must be looking at their loved ones," Lin said. "I want each drawing to show that connection."
As time goes by, it's getting harder to find people who remember the martyrs. Lin feels like he is trying to finish a race before time runs out. He has already finished about 200 drawings and he wants to keep drawing more, even though he is not young and has health problems. "These martyrs were so young when they gave their lives for our happiness," Lin said. "Every drawing has a touching story behind it. And these stories drive me on."
