One day,a trader lost a bag with one thousand coins. He told everyone that he would give one hundred coins to anyone who found the money.
Later,an honest farmer found the bag and returned it. The trader was happy to have his money back, but he was also sad by the thought of giving some of it away. He wondered how he could get out of his promise and still appear to be fair. At last,he said to the farmer,“Thanks for returning my money. But I notice that you have already taken your reward, for there were only nine hundred coins in the bag.” The farmer was angry,“I didn’t even open the bag!” “I hope you enjoy your reward, goodbye.” The trader walked away.
The farmer was upset and angry. He hurried to the palace to see the king and told his story. The king asked the trader to come with the bag of money. After the trader told his story, the king said to him,“You lost a bag with one thousand coins, right?” “Yes.” said the trader. “When you were handed this bag,it only had nine hundred coins, right?” “That’s true.” “It was an ordinary(普通的) bag, like thousands of others. If your bag had one thousand coins and this bag only has nine hundred, then how do you know this is your bag?”“I… I…” the trader had trouble speaking.
The king continued,“So this is not your bag. You should continue to look for your bag. Good luck!” The king turned to the farmer,“You should take care of this bag of nine hundred coins before the right owner comes. If you don’t find the owner within three months, the money will be yours as a reward for your honesty.”

1. 第1题:根据原文第一段“a trader lost a bag with one thousand coins”,农夫归还的是商人丢失的包,故包内硬币为1000,选C。
