Our thumbs are really important for us to take and hold things. But what if we had a third thumb?
The Third Thumb was invented by Dani Clode,a designer from New Zealand. It can give people another “finger”. With it, things like opening a bottle with just one hand can be done by people. What’s more,carrying a lot of things can be made much easier by the Third Thumb! Even things like playing cards with just one hand or playing the guitar can be achieved!
The Third Thumb was made when Clode was studying at the Royal College of Art in London,the UK. It has two motors that make it move. These motors can be controlled by users when they press their big toes. When one big toe is pressed,the Third Thumb will move towards the palm. When the other big toe is pressed,it will move towards the other fingers.
This invention is very helpful. For example,if both hands are difficult for someone to use,the Third Thumb can be used to let one hand do the work of two. People who only have one hand can also be helped by it. It’s all about helping people use their hands in new and better ways.
All in all,good ideas circulate all over the world,especially those that have real meaning. And everyone can explore their own way.
