Eight years ago, people found a milu deer (麋鹿) Diandian in a lake. She was almost dead. Now she is a proud mother of three milu deer.
Li is the president (主席) of a milu deer protection group in Yueyang. Li and his team need to work for many hours to look after the animals from March to May.
On March 18,Diandian gave birth to her new baby. It was her third baby and it was born in the 3rd month of the year, so people named it Sansan.
In May, a team went to Dongting Lake and met some milu deer. The team leader Song first saw a milu deer early in 2009. After that he helped protect the living environment.
In the flood (洪水) season Song and his team go around the lake to save milu deer and offer food to them.
As the environment is getting better, Dongting Lake has become a good living place for wild animals. “We will keep protecting these wild animals and their living environment,” Song said.
