Bian Que and his brothers

Bian Que was a famous(著名的) doctor in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period(春秋战国时期).
The King of Wei once asked Bian Que, "All the brothers in your family are expert(熟练的) in medicine. Who is the best(最好的)?"
Bian Que answered, "The eldest brother is the best. The second brother is less better(较好). I am the worst(最差的) of the three."

The King said, "Please explain(解释)."
Bian Que explained, "My eldest brother treats a disease before the beginning(开始) of the disease, when the patient does not feel sick. And the eldest brother treats the disease with the medicine. So he is not famous, but is highly respected(备受尊重的) in our family.
"My second brother treats a disease at the beginning, when the symptoms(症状) are not very obvious(明显的), and the patient does not feel pain(疼痛). My second brother is able to cure the disease with the medicine. So people in the village think that he is very effective(有效的) in treating a minor illness(小病).
"Unlike(不同于) the two of them, I treat people mainly when they are seriously ill. Many people saw me bleed on the meridians(在经脉上放血) and perform many operations(做许多手术). So everyone thought that my medical skills were the best, so I became famous all over the country."
The King understood(明白).

扁鹊是春秋战国时期的名医。
有一次，魏王问扁鹊：“你们家三兄弟都精通医术。谁的医术最好呢？”
扁鹊回答：“大哥最好，二哥其次，我最差。”
魏王说：“请解释一下。”
扁鹊解释道：“我大哥治病，于病情发作之前。病人还没感到难受的时候，大哥就已经用药铲除了病根。因此他并不出名，但在我们家深受尊重。
“我二哥治病，于病情初起之时。这时症状还不太明显，病人感受不到疼痛，二哥就能用药把病治好。所以村子里的人认为他能够治轻微的小病。
“我与他们不同，我主要是在病情严重之时治病。很多人看到我在经脉上放血，做很多手术。所以人们认为我的医术最高，因此我的名气响遍全国。”
魏王明白了。
