Ann is one of my best friends, but we live in different cities. One day, I went to visit her and we chatted(聊天) happily. Then she wanted to call her grandma. She dialed(拨号) the number, but hung up the phone. About a minute later, she dialed the number again and said, "Hi, Grandma ..."
I looked at her in surprise and asked, "Why did you dial the number twice?" Ann smiled gently and explained, "My grandparents are getting on a bit (上了点年纪) and moving slowly. They can't get to the telephone quickly. So I just want to give them enough(足够的) time to answer the phone."
