Taihu Lake is the third largest freshwater lake in China, after Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake. Crossing two provinces, Taihu Lake is located in southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang. It is linked (连接) to the famous Grand Canal (大运河), and a number of rivers rise from Taihu Lake, including the Suzhou River.

Taihu Lake is also famous for its fishing industry (渔业). Travelling there, tourists can taste the famous local dishes made of the “Taihu Lake Three Whites”, namely white shrimp, whitebait and whitefish.
