The best spear(矛) and the best shield(盾)
A man of the State of Chu(楚国) had a spear and a shield for sale(出售).
He held up his shield and said loudly in praise of his shield, “My shield is strong. Nothing can pierce(刺穿) it through.”

Then he held up his spear and also said in praise of his spear, “My spear is very sharp. It can pierce through anything.”
When the people heard this, they laughed loudly.
One of them asked him, “According to(根据) what you said, your spear is the sharpest and your shield is also the strongest. Then what would happen if you use your spear to pierce your shield?”
The man was embarrassed(窘迫的). He did not say a single word and left quickly.

2. Because he said nothing could pierce his shield, but his spear could pierce through anything. His words were contradictory, and he couldn't answer people's question.

解析
