Disappearing Species
The COP15 meeting was held in Kunming. More than 5,000 people attended online and offline for the event. The meeting discussed that biodiversity(生物多样性) was becoming a challenge,as wild plant and animal species were disappearing faster than we can discover new ones.
There is bad news coming for polar bears. Two thirds of all the world's polar bears could disappear by the year 2050 because of global warming. Polar bears mainly eat seals. They look for seals on floating sea ice. If there isn't any sea ice around, the bears have to stay on land, where there is no food for them.
Extinct(灭绝的) Koalas
Over the last 20 years, the koala population in Queensland has halved because of drought(干旱),fires and lack of fresh greens in the forest. Some are killed in attacks(袭击) by dogs or are run over on roads. If useful action was not taken, the animal might become extinct before 2050.
