A group of teenagers in San Antonio are making a difference in the lives of those in need. They are led by Teens Give Back SATX.
“Having a bed at night after a long day of work or school is comfortable,” said Addie Roberts. With this in mind, Roberts and her friends decided to reuse used plastic bags. They wanted to make them become something important for San Antonio's homeless people.
Each sleeping mat(垫子) needs about 700 to 900 bags. It can take 15~20 hours to finish. Although making these mats needs a lot of time and hard work, these teenagers still try to make a difference to their community. Over the past year, they have made about 50 mats. It has changed many homeless people's lives.
“In some temperatures, the mats can save lives by keeping people off the ground,” said Rex Brien. As the teenagers continue their work, they invite others to join them and make a difference.
