The year 2025 marks the 144th anniversary(周年纪念日)of the great writer’s birth. Born on Sept. 25th, 1881, his real name is Zhou Shuren. He once dreamed of being a doctor. In 1904, he went to study in a Japanese college as his father died of illness. However, in the early 20th century, Lu Xun found that there were many problems in Chinese society. The minds of Chinese were numb(麻木的). Most Chinese were just followers without thinking. So in 1906 he gave up medical study and started writing. He hoped his words could help people. In 1918, he wrote his famous short story Diary of a Madman. It was the first Chinese novel published using the everyday language that people spoke, which helped people understand the novel easily. This made Lu Xun a leading Chinese writer.
