Joao lives on an island near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is retired(退休的)，but still works as a part-time fisherman. One day in 2011, when he was walking on the beach, he saw a little penguin with oil(油)on its body. "If no one helps the bird wash away the oil, it may lose its life," Joao thought. So he took the bird home and gave it a shower. Joao gave the bird fish to eat, and called it "Dindim". The penguin soon became strong and healthy. It was able to go back to the water.
After a week or two, Joao went down to the coast(海岸)and tried to free Dindim. But the penguin didn't want to go. It stayed with Joao for eleven months, getting bigger and stronger. And Joao enjoyed being with his new friend. Then one day in February, Dindim left. When Joao found this, he cried and couldn't eat or sleep all day and all night. But, in his heart, he hoped that the bird went back to its penguin family. Four months later, when Joao was walking home from the beach, he heard a "honking" sound—Dindim was back. Joao ran to it, and Dindim touched Joao's face, helping clean his tears(眼泪)。In the following several years, Dindim went back and stayed with Joao every year.
