Tian Ji's horse racing strategy（策略）
导读：同学们，上个单元我们读的故事叫“塞翁失马，焉知非福”，这个故事启发我们要用辩证的眼光去看问题，任何事情都有两面性。这个单元我们继续学习一个与马有关的故事，这个故事出自《史记》，看看你们能不能读懂这个典故。
In the Warring States Period（战国时期）, there was a man named Sun Bin. He worked for State Qi's famous general（将军）Tian Ji.
At that time, horse racing was the most popular activity. Tian Ji often bet with（和……赌）the King, but he always lost.
One day he lost again, and when he got home he was depressed（沮丧的）. Sun Bin said, “Next time, take me to watch the races. I may help you.”
At the next horse races, Sun Bin followed Tian Ji to the racetrack（赛马场）. Sun Bin learned that all the horses were divided into three classes（等级）by speed（速度）. Everyone's horses raced according to their classes, and the best of three games would be the winner.
Watching closely, Sun Bin knew Tian Ji's horses were not much different from the others. Then Sun Bin said to Tian Ji, “Don't worry, General. I have a way for you to win.”
When Tian Ji heard this, he was very glad and invited（邀请）the King to compete with him. The King never lost, so he happily accepted（接受）.
Before the races began, Tian Ji followed Sun Bin's plan. He put the first-class saddle（马鞍）on his third-class horse and sent it to race with the King's first-class horse.
The race started. Tian Ji's horse fell far behind, and the King laughed proudly.
In the second match, Tian Ji sent his first-class horse to compete with the King's second-class horse. Tian Ji's horse ran ahead（前面）of the King's horse and won the second race.
In the third race, Tian Ji's second-class horse raced against the King's third-class horse. Again Tian Ji's horse ran ahead of the King's horse.
Tian Ji beat the King, two races to one.
Tian Ji told the King about Sun Bin's strategy. The King understood, and immediately（立即）took Sun Bin into his palace. Sun Bin told the King, “When two sides are equal（平等的）, good strategies can defeat（击败）the opponent（对手）.”

那时，赛马是齐国最流行的娱乐活动。田忌经常与齐王赌马，但他总是输。
有一天，他赌马又输了，回到家里很沮丧。孙膑说：“下次带我一起去看赛马。说不定我能帮上您。”
下一次赛马时，孙膑跟着田忌去了赛马场。孙膑了解到所有的马按照速度被划分为三个等级。每个人的马按照等级进行比赛，三局两胜。
孙膑仔细观察过后，知道田忌的马跟别人的马没什么不同。于是孙膑对田忌说：“别担心，将军，我有办法让您赢。”
田忌一听，十分高兴，邀请齐王同他比赛。齐王从没输过赛马，于是欣然接受了。
赛马开始之前，田忌按照孙膑的计划，把一等马的马鞍套在三等马的马背上，然后派它去跟齐王的一等马比赛。
比赛开始后，田忌的马远远地落在后面，齐王骄傲地大笑。
第二场比赛时，田忌派自己的一等马与齐王的二等马比赛。田忌的马超过了齐王的马，赢得第二场比赛。
第三场比赛时，田忌的二等马对战齐王的三等马。田忌的马又一次冲到了齐王的马前面。
田忌二比一赢了齐王。
田忌告诉了齐王孙膑的策略。齐王恍然大悟，立即召孙膑进宫。孙膑告诉齐王：“当双方实力差不多时，可以用适当的策略击败对手。”
